Osteoarthritis; causes, symptoms and treatment

Arthritis means the inflammation of one or more joints, causing  pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement.
There are over 100 different types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis is the most common type and is more likely to occur as you age. You may feel it in any of your joints, but most commonly in your hips, knees or fingers as Gout.
Arthritis involves the breakdown of cartilage. Cartilage normally protects the joint, allowing for smooth movement. Cartilage also absorbs shock when pressure is placed on the joint, like when you walk.  Cartilage also  prevent  the bones rub together which causing pain, swelling (inflammation), and stiffness.
Causes involves also:
·        If the immune system believes a body part is foreign and begin to attack itself this is called An autoimmune disease.
·        Broken bone.
·        General "wear and tear" on joints.
·        Infection (usually caused by bacteria or viruses).
Risk factors for osteoarthritis include:
·        Being overweight.
·        Previously injuring the affected joint.
·        using stress on the joint
If you have arthritis, you may experience:
·        Joint pain.
·        Joint swelling.
·        Reduced ability to move the joint.
·        Redness of the skin around a joint.
·        Stiffness, especially in the morning.
·        Warmth around a joint.
Exams and Tests:
 A physical examination is done to examine the fluid that removed from the joint with a needle under a microscope.
Tests often include blood tests and joint x-rays and joint.
Treatment of arthritis aims at reducing your pain and discomfort and preventing further disability.
Medications should be used in addition to lifestyle changes for osteoarthritis and other forms of joint inflammation.
Exercise is applied to reduce pain and fatigue , relieve stiffness, , and improve muscle and bone strength this for  healthy joints .
You should also:
·        Avoid holding one position for too long.
·        Avoid positions or movements that place extra stress on your affected joints.
Other ways for treatment include:
·        Some creams are applied over your painful joints as Capsaicin.
·        Eat a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially antioxidants like vitamin E.
·        Get selenium from wheat germ, garlic, whole grains, sunflower seeds, and Brazil nuts.
·        Get omega-3 fatty acids from cold water fish (like salmon, mackerel, and herring), flaxseed, rapeseed (canola) oil, soybeans, soybean oil, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts.
·        Taking glucose amine and chondroitin which help building blocks of cartilage, the substance that lines joints.
·        If arthritis is diagnosed and treated early, you can prevent joint damage.
·        Tell the doctor if you have a family history of arthritis, even if you have no joint symptoms.
·        Avoid excessive repetitive motions.
·        Being overweight is one of  the risk for developing osteoarthritis in the knees and possibly in the hips
